linux - Emacs: scaling down shrinks faces, not line height -

when downsize text in emacs 24.3.1 (ubuntu) e.g. via c-x c--, lines shrink modeline height, while text behaves wanted. makes minimap unusable because number of lines per screen stays constant, adding white space. problem?
